The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment performs a different, ceremonial role.
They represent the nation locally and abroad, for state events, celebrations and events in the royal calendar.
They are part of the Trooping of Colour ceremony at the Horse Guards parade which takes place at the monarch's annual Birthday Parade.
The King's Life Guard are from the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment, and are formed of soldiers charged with guarding official royal residences, including Buckingham Palace.
The sentries are often on horseback at the entrance to Horses' Guard, the main way in to Buckingham Palace and St James' Palace.

What is The Sovereign's Escort of The Household Cavalry in the King's procession?
The King's procession will be accompanied by The Sovereign's Escort of the Household Cavalry.
They will depart Buckingham Palace through the Centre Gate, and proceed down The Mall, passing through Admiralty Arch and south of King Charles I Island, down Whitehall and along Parliament Street.
They will then travel around the east and south sides of Parliament Square to Broad Sanctuary to arrive at the Sanctuary of Westminster Abbey.
