Beatles’ legend Sir Paul McCartney is the wealthiest British music star, with a fortune of £950million, placing him ahead of the King and many successful business tycoons.
The 80-year-old, who is still raking in millions from his performances, and his wife Nancy Shevell, who is from a haulage dynasty, were amongst the richest people in the country.
Sir Elton John, 76, who is set to play his final live performance next month at Glastonbury Festival, was also amongst the country’s wealthiest with a estimated worth o £450 million.
A number of younger British popstars, including the likes of Adele, Ed Sheeran and Harry Styles, are also raking in the big bucks, being placed on The Sunday Times Rich List as some of the wealthiest Britons under the age of 35.
All the performers are self-made with the majority making their money from their music, sold-out world tours, and other business ventures, such as podcasts, documentaries and lucrative brand deals.
Sir Paul McCartney – £950m
Sir Paul McCartney and his wife Nancy Shevell have a fortune of £950million.
The singer and songwriter will turn 81 next month but continues to perform live.
He headlined the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury last year and his recent Got Back tour is expected to have grossed $105m (£84.6m) from just 16 shows.
This means, as reported by The Sunday Times, Sir Paul is making £25 million on top of his normal income from songs recordings from his solo career and the Beatles.
His American wife, 63, also has considerable wealth in her own right, coming from haulage dynasty.

Sir Elton John – £450m
Sir Elton John was the second richest British musician, being worth £450million rising from £375 million last year.
While the majority of his fortune has been made through his music, he has also opened his first branded store in Bicester Village, Oxfordshire, and a store inside Selfridges.
The shop, which opened in April, sells limited edition clothes, eyewear, and memorabilia to mark the months running up to his final live performance, headlining Glastonbury Festival next month.

Ed Sheeran – £300m
While Ed Sheeran did not make the list for the richest 345 Britons, he was the seventh richest person in the UK under the age of 35.
The Shape of You singer, whose documentary The Sum of It All launched on Disney+ earlier this month, is worth £300 million.
After leaving school at the age of 16, he went on to become the first ever artist to get more than 100 million followers on Spotify.
He is currently touring across the United States. The pop star’s 2019 tour saw him earn $775.6 million (£623.15 million) from 8.9 million tickets sold worldwide.
It comes following the release of his sixth studio album which became the UK’s fastest selling album of 2023.

The artist has also accumulated 27 properties across London, making up an impressive £57 million portfolio.
His largest property, however is a huge estate of land in Suffolk where he has slowly been accumulating the land around his home in Suffolk, turning it into what has become known as ‘Sheeranville’.
Ed’s home also boasts a private recording studio where he pens his of tracks, decorated with photographs of his family and friends.
His estate boasts sprawling fields of land surrounding his home, with a rustic wooden treehouse in one area, and a vast swimming lake in another.
Adele – £165m
Tottenham born and bred star Adele is now worth £165 million, making her the ninth richest person age 35 or under.

Earlier this year the singer, 35, announced that she would be extending her residency in Las Vegas, which previously ran from November 2022 to March 2023.
It brought the artist, whose full name is Adele Adkins, £500,000 per show.
New dates of the high-budget show are due to take place at the Caesar’s Palace Hotel and Casino from June 16 until November 4, 2023.
Throughout her career, the Rolling in the Deep singer has sold more than 100 million albums.
Proceedings from her music and tours has been put towards her company Melted Stone Ltd and other companies she owns.
Following the Covid-19 pandemic, however, her company A Adkins Touring Ltd, which looks after her live music, made a loss but it is thought to have been booming since.
Last year Adele bought a huge mansion in Los Angeles, which she bought for £47 million.
It boasts of 8,585 square-feet, located in LA’s Hidden Valleys.
Harry Styles – £150m
The former One Direction star Harry Styles also was highly placed on the under 35’s rich list, being worth £150 million.
His third and most recent studio album, Harry’s House, was the UK’s biggest-selling record of 2022.
The 29-year-old saw huge success in his worldwide Love On Tour, which has seen him perform in the United States, Australia and now the UK.
He is estimated to have raked in £7 million alone in the last year thanks to the sold-out tour.
His business Erskine Touring LTD has £12,663,01million in the bank – up from £5.7million last year.
The company brought in just shy of £16million – £3.3million of which was owed to creditors.

According to The Sunday Times, the 29-year-old’s wealth is £150million, putting him in 13th place on the under-35 list.
Two of Styles’ former One Direction bandmates, Niall Horan, 29, and Louis Tomlinson, 31, also made the under 35 Rich List.
The pair were joint 29th on the list, both with wealth estimated at £54million.
Dua Lipa – £75m
Pop superstar Dua Lipa, 27, has an estimated worth of £75 million, created from her music, modelling and podcasting.
The British star is a three-times Grammy award winner and is signed to Warner Music.
The popstar also has a number of lucrative brad deals with firms such as Evian, Versace and Yves Saint Laurent.

Her world tour Future Nostalgia raked in £80 million.
The star, who was born in London to Albanian parents from Kosovo, also stars in Greta Gerwig’s new Barbie film alongside Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.
Niall Horan – £54m
Niall Horan, 29, who used to perform alongside Harry Styles in One Direction, had an estimated wealth of £54 million.
The Irish singer-songwriter from Mullingar, made the majority of his money whilst he was part of the boy band, which split in 2015.
He then went on to launch a very successful solo career, with is third album being released this summer.

Horan, 29, is also believed to earn £6 million for his role as a coach on the US version of The Voice.
He also has invested in a number of businesses and properties, including the Irish spots brand Gym + Coffee and created his golf management agency Modest.
Horan has a range of properties under his belt, including a £1.3 million mansion in Mullingar in 2017, which has 10 acres of land, six rooms and an outdoor swimming pool.
He also has a property in London and Los Angeles. He spends most his time at Hollywood Hills home which he bought in 2016 for an estimated £2.8 million.

He previously stated he was ‘gutted’ when the beloved boyband split, adding: ‘I was a bit bitter, I suppose because it just felt like another loss to me.’
Since then, however, he has launched his own solo career, going on tour and releasing two albums.
This year Tomlinson also released his documentary All of Those Voices that looked back at his career and life so far.
