William Alldis, 40, who calls himself “The Shotgun Chef”, is said to have been reported to police by a dog walker.
It is understood the witness heard several shots then saw deer being killed in Dagnam Park, Essex, on November 6 last year.
Alldis, who runs the Cart End restaurant at his family’s farm near Epping, has been charged with possessing a firearm and ammunition in a public place.
He appeared before Barkingside magistrates court yesterday but did not enter a plea. The case has been sent to Snaresbrook crown court for a pre-trial hearing on March 20.
Magistrate Janet Herbert told him: “The matter is too serious for this court.”
Alldis taught BBC comic Nick Helm how to shoot on the Dave channel’s food show Eat Your Heart Out.
He is said to have been in Dagnam park with a Sako .243 rifle and “ammunition suitable for use in the said firearm”. The offence is “contrary to section 19 of and Schedule 6 to the Firearms Act 1968”.
Alldis often posts photos of his kills — including a stag in the Scottish Highlands — on his website and runs partridge shoots from his farm.
He also raises his own quail, geese, turkey and other fowl.
The Sun told how deer from Dagnam Park had been visiting a council estate 1½ miles away.
