Princess Beatrice gives birth to a GIRL as she & husband Edo gush 'we're delighted' over arrival of baby weighing 6.2lb

PRINCESS Beatrice has given birth to a baby GIRL as she and her husband Edoardo Mozzi gush that they're "delighted" over the arrival of their daughter.

Buckingham Palace confirmed the happy news this afternoon after the new mum, 32, welcomed her daughter into the world on Saturday, September 18.

The Queen's granddaughter and her husband, multi-millionaire property developer Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, welcomed the tot on Saturday.

The Palace said today: "Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter on Saturday 18th September 2021, at 23.42, at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London.

"The baby weighs 6 pounds and 2 ounces.

"The new baby’s grandparents and great-grandparents have all been informed and are delighted with the news. The family would like to thank all the staff at the hospital for their wonderful care.

"Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well, and the couple are looking forward to introducing their daughter to her big brother Christopher Woolf."

In a tweet from her official Twitter account, Beatrice said she was "delighted" to "share the news of the safe arrival" of the couple's daughter.

Princess Beatrice wrote: "So delighted to share the news of the safe arrival of our daughter on Saturday 18th September 2021, at 23.42, at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London.

"Thank you to the Midwife team and everyone at the hospital for their wonderful care."

The baby is the Queen's 12th great-grandchild, and arrives just over three months after little Lilibet Diana, Harry and Meghan's second child.

The royal infant was also born just months after the death of their great-grandfather the Duke of Edinburgh.

Beatrice is already a stepmother to Edoardo's four-year-old son Christopher Woolf, known as Wolfie.

She was wed in a secret union in front of just 20 guests last July, and announced that she was pregnant in May.

The monarch's large brood of great-grandchildren has swelled in 2021 – with Princess Eugenie welcoming baby son August in February and Zara Tindall her third child Lucas in March.

Beatrice's baby has been born 11th in line to the throne.

The first 10 places remain the same, with the new addition to the family entering the line of succession below Beatrice and above Eugenie, who has moved down to 12th place.
