Las Vegas police are working to identify a young boy whose body was found by a hiker along a wooded trail on Friday — and are probing the case as a homicide.

Cops released a digitally enhanced photo of the boy through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in the hopes that they can solve the mystery, authorities said.

“We are asking teachers, in particular, to pay close attention to this new digitally enhanced photo,” Las Vegas police said on Twitter.

The youngster, believed to be between 8 and 12 years old, was found shortly before 8 a.m. near the Mountain Springs Trailhead and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The trail is near the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area southwest of the city center.

Authorities initially believed the victim was an 8-year-old boy who had been camping with his stepbrother and stepfather — but later found the three safe, cops said.

Now, police are looking for the public’s help to identify the dead boy.

“At this time, LVMPD is actively devoting all available resources to identify the victim,” the department said in a statement. “We are still asking for the public’s assistance to identify the victim of the homicide.”

Police did not reveal how the boy died.
