Police officer is rushed to hospital after being hit by car as suspects speed from the scene in north London hit-and-run

  • Metropolitan Police officers stopped a vehicle in Tottenham at 11.32am today 
  • The vehicle stopped then sped off, hitting an officer who was airlifted to hospital
  • The officer is believed to have suffered a broken leg. No arrests yet made 

A police officer is in hospital receiving treatment for a suspected broken leg after being run over by fleeing suspects.

Shortly after 11.30 this morning Met Police officers stopped a vehicle in White Hart Lane in Tottenham, north London.

The vehicle initially stopped but then drove off at speed striking an officer.

The officer is believed to have suffered a broken leg and was reportedly conscious when picked up by the air ambulance  to be taken to hospital. 

No arrests have yet been made and the Met are continuing to make enquiries.

The incident took place at 11.32am and the vehicle drove off after initially stopping for police

The Met’s Haringey twitter account said: ‘At 11:32hrs today officers stopped a vehicle in White Hart Lane, #Tottenham.

‘The suspect vehicle stopped for police, but then drove off at speed striking an officer.

‘The officer has been taken to hospital. We await an update on his condition. No arrests. Enquiries continue.’
