It was hosted by North Yorkshire Police and other forces and firefighters joined in.

Social media users criticised the conference after police forces publicised it on Twitter.
One wrote: ‘The public want you to investigate burglary, carry out stop and search and patrol the streets.
‘You’re sat at some stupid intersectionality conference!’

Intersectionality is a term that describes how race, class and gender ‘intersect’ with one another.

A North Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: ‘We must understand and be able to support every member of every community and at the same time ensure our workplaces welcome and value everyone equally for who they are.’
