A NUISANCE caller plagued cops with Phil Collins’ hits up to 17 times in a day.
Drunken Anthony Holmes, 62, rang 36 times in three days — each time blaring out hits like Against All Odds.
When officers went to his home in Grimsby, Lincs, they found he had downed three-quarters of a litre of vodka.
Prosecutor Martin Howarth: “Whether that was behind the phone calls, I don’t know.”
Most of the calls were made to a non-emergency number.
Gary Bulbeck, defending, said fish factory worker Holmes had made the calls because he wanted someone to talk to after a long-term relationship ended abruptly.
He added: “He started to drink and, on these occasions, he had been drinking vodka. Ringing the police is not the way forward.
"It was a short period of time and, since then, he has sought alternative remedies for his issues. He is no longer drinking.”
Holmes admitted making nuisance calls. He was given a one-year conditional discharge by JPs in Grimsby and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £21 victim surcharge.
Magistrate Gerald Hooton told Holmes: “The police are quite busy and can’t deal with these type of calls.”
And when it comes to Phil’s hits, they couldn’t take One More Night.
