Mat George death LIVE: LAPD hunt driver after co-host Michaela Okland says She Rates Dog podcaster killed in hit-and-run

POLICE are hunting for the driver involved in a hit and run that killed beloved podcaster Mat George in Los Angeles on Saturday.

The Los Angeles Police Department is offering a $50,000 reward for any information leading to the identity of the driver.

She Rates Dogs podcaster Mat George, 26, was struck and killed in around 2:30AM on Saturday when a driver of a white BMW rammed into him and fled the scene.

His co-star Michaela Okland made the announcement on Twitter.

"I would rather you guys here this from me than a news article. Mat was killed in a hit and run last night," she tweeted. "I don’t really have any other words right now.

"I wish I could contact everybody who knows him personally but the news is already out and I just can’t do it right now."

    George was killed on Saturday after a driver of a white BMW crashed in George at 2:20 AM and fled the scene in a hit and run.

    Police did not identify George as the victim, but his co-host Michaela Okland later tweeted it was George.

    George, an alum of Arizona State University, boasted a loyal Instagram and Twitter following of nearly 80,000 people.

    Mat George reportedly wasn't crossing the street at a marked crosswalk.

    The BMW continued eastbound without stopping, the LAPD said.

    George was pronounced dead at the scene.

    George's death was first confirmed by his close friend and podcast co-host, Michaela Okland, on Twitter.

    It was approximately 2.20am local time when he was struck. The car, a white BMW, did not stop.

    The BMW was driving east on Beverly Boulevard. George had been walking south on Croft Avenue, according to local police.
