Man, 35, arrested over Travelodge digger ram after Liverpool hotel trashed in row 'over missing £600 wages'

John Manley was filmed trashing the Edge Lane hotel in Liverpool Innovation Park on Monday January 21 while screaming "if you'd just paid me my f***ing £600".

Co-workers at the site claimed a banking glitch meant their Friday wages were paid on Monday – but Mr Manley hadn't realised.

Desperate co-workers could be heard shouting "John…John that's enough" as the digger tore through the entrance of the building, on the day it was due to be completed.

The labourer ran from the scene seconds before police arrived at the site and another worker was treated for minor injuries.

It is understood the damage, re-building work and the delayed opening of the hotel could cost up to £500,000.

The worker was arrested today on suspicion of causing criminal damage with intent to endanger life.

The 35-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of actual bodily harm in relation to a separate incident in Broadgreen.

He is currently in custody where he will be quizzed by detectives.
