London: Liz Truss has won the contest to become the next Conservative Party leader and will replace Boris Johnson as the UK’s next prime minister.
Truss, will be Britain’s third female prime minister and Britain’s 56th after Tory party members endorsed her to become leader with 81,326 votes cast in her favour compared to the 60,399 for her rival Rishi Sunak.
The result was announced by Sir Graham Brady, the chairman of the 1922 backbench committee at the Queen Elizabeth II Centre in Westminster on Monday.
