Joe Biden ‘confident’ son Hunter did nothing wrong
President-elect Joe Biden on Thursday appeared on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” where he told the comedian that he has “great confidence” in his son Hunter.
Joe Biden defended Hunter after the son last week revealed the existence of federal investigations into his “tax affairs” and business dealings in Ukraine.
“We have great confidence in our son,” Biden told Colbert.
“I’m not concerned about any accusations made against him. It’s used to get to me. I think it’s kind of foul play. But, uh, look, it is what it is.”
Joe Biden went on to praise his son’s intellect while pledging to work with Republicans who seek to probe Hunter’s money issues.
“He’s a grown man. He is the smartest man I know … in pure intellectual capacity and as long as he’s good, we’re good,” Biden said.
Hunter Biden addressed the investigations in a statement issued by the Biden-Harris transition team last week.
“I take this matter very seriously but I am confident that a professional and objective review of these matters will demonstrate that I handled my affairs legally and appropriately, including with the benefit of professional tax advisors,” Hunter wrote.
In October, The Post revealed that Hunter Biden had introduced a top executive at Burisma — a Ukrainian energy company on whose board he sat — to his father.
