Haunting final pic ‘murdered’ mum-of-4 Kate Higton took while on cinema date hours before she was stabbed to death | The Sun

THIS is the last known selfie taken by a mum-of-four before she was stabbed to death alongside her new boyfriend.

Katie Higton, 27, and Steven Harnett, 25, were discovered with multiple injuries at a property in Dalton, Huddersfield on Monday morning.

The couple – who had only just started dating – went to the cinema the night before where the nurse snapped a smiling selfie and shared it on Snapchat.

Marcus Osbourne, 34, has since been charged with both murders.

Osbourne was also charged with assaulting and detaining a second woman against her will on the property on the night the murders took place.

He appeared at Leeds Magistrates' Court on Wednesday where he was remanded in custody to appear at Leeds Crown Court tomorrow.

The former brother and sister-in-law of Katie said the family was “absolutely devastated” as they placed flowers at the scene.

He said his brother had been in a relationship with Katie for seven years and was the father of her two oldest children, daughters aged nine and 10.

Meanwhile a former colleague who worked in a warehouse with Katie told The Mirror he was due to meet her for a coffee this morning.

Shaking as he paid tribute to the mum, he said: "We just made each other’s days.

"She was so fun, so bubbly. She always wanted to better herself.

“I remember her saying it was the first proper job she’d had, it was just before Christmas and she was so excited to be earning money in time for Christmas for her kids."

A pal said Steven "just wanted to meet a nice girl"

They added: "He was always polite, and as far as I could tell, had a big heart and he would help anyone if he could.
