Disabled sportsman fends off his pug from pack of vicious stray dogs

Moment disabled sportsman throws himself out of his wheelchair to stop vicious stray dogs savaging his pug in Russia

This is the moment a brave disabled man fell to the floor to save his pug from a pack of vicious stray dogs who tried to attack him.

Aleksander Livanov, of Ulyanovsk, Russia, threw himself out of his wheelchair to the defence of his pet pug, Buckie, after they were travelling along the pavement next to a nearby block of flats.

The wheelchair basketball player was approached by three large dogs and can be seen rotating in his wheelchair to face the danger and protect his canine.

Mr Livanov were travelling along the pavement next to a nearby block of flats when they were approached by three large dogs who tried to attack Buckie

The terrifying footage shows Mr Livanov falling out from his wheelchair to save his pet’s life and stop him being torn apart by the vicious strays.   

He is seen trying to shoo the stray dogs away with his outstretched arm, and prevent them from attacking his canine. 

One of the dogs can be seen biting on the pug’s tail, trying to drag it away, as Alexander falls out of his wheelchair in a desperate attempt to save Buckie’s life. 

Local authorities are now looking for the aggressive strays to put them in a shelter. 

The video, which was filmed on a CCTV camera, shows how Aleksander Livanov clinging to his four-legged companion, making their vicious attackers flee the scene.  

Buckie, who was on a lead, is seen trying to run away and dart between the three dogs, who viciously bit his tail

Aleksandr Livanov said in an interview to local media following the horrific incident: ‘They ran from two sides. First he beat off one, then the second. Then I jump onto my dog ​​and hide it behind me’

He was seen trying to shoo the stray dogs away with his outstretched arm, and prevent them from attacking Buckie. Local authorities are now looking for the strays, to put them in a temporary shelter

Mr Livanov was able to cling to his four-legged pooch long enough that the three dogs eventually left and ran away 

Aleksandr Livanov said in an interview to local media following the horrific incident: ‘The dogs attacked us all of a sudden. I did not have any other options, but to sort of “jump forward”, pull my dog up and shield it with my body.’ 

Luckily, Buckie and his owner did not get hurt due to the attack. 

It is understood that the dogs live in the territory of a nearby construction site. 

Local authorities are now looking for the strays, going to put them in a temporary shelter.
