Daughter, 25, accused of DECAPITATING her mum, 57, and throwing her head in neighbour's garden

A WOMAN has been charged with murder after she allegedly decapitated her mum with several knives in Australia.

Jessica Camilleri, 25, has been accused of attacking her mother in the kitchen of their Sydney home late last night, before dropping the 57-year-old’s head in front of a neighbour’s house, say reports.

Her mum, Rita, had been babysitting her grandson, four, at the time of the attack.

When cops arrived at the gruesome scene, Jessica was standing calmly in the driveway, covered in blood.

Officers wrapped her hands in plastic to preserve forensic evidence, reports news.com.au.

New South Wales Police said that officers were called to a property at about 11.40pm (local time) after reports of an argument between two women.

Cops found Rita’s body inside the home, and her daughter was arrested in the front yard of a neighbour’s home, and taken to St Mary’s Police Station.

Nepean Police Area Commander, Det Supt Brett McFadden, described it as a confronting scene for first responders.

He said: “While police are trained to respond to all types of situations, there’s no getting away from the fact this was a horrific attack.

“This is up there with one of the most significant, most horrific scenes police have to deal with.

“Detectives are now working meticulously through the information available to us.

“But it’s a very difficult and challenging investigation. It is also in its very early stages and as you’d understand, there is still a long way to go in this inquiry.

"Police officers attending the scene have been offered professional support.”

He said that Rita had suffered “extensive injuries. We understand at this stage that a number of knives were used during the course of the incident.

“I am not able to specify what kind of knives they were at this stage. They both reside at the home together.”

He confirmed that a child at the crime scene was the grandson of the victim, Rita.

The boy was taken to Westmead Child’s Hospital with a minor head injury, and is now being cared for by his family.

Det McFadden said: “The family is distraught as to what has taken place.”

The grandmother had been babysitting the boy – Jessica’s nephew – at the time of the attack.

Police confirmed to reporters that he witnessed her horrific death.

We understand at this stage that a number of knives were used during the course of the incident.

When Jessica faced Parramatta Bail Court today charged with murder, she didn’t apply for bail.

After her lawyer told the court that she had significant health issues, magistrate Michael Price made an order for her to be assessed in hospital before her next appearance.

The woman – appearing via video link – told the court she had been injured during the attack, and was unable to wash herself properly to “get all the blood off” because she was unable to move her fingers properly.

Jessica told the magistrate she had a number of conditions including border autism, bipolar disorder and anxiety. She asked to be taken to a hospital to receive treatment.

It’s alleged that a “number of knives” were used to kill the victim and cut off her head, before it was dropped outside a neighbouring property.

Cops allege that Rita was killed by her daughter in the kitchen of their family’s home, where they both lived, before the 25-year-old carried her decapitated head two houses along the road.

Neighbours had rushed to help Rita after hearing a “violent argument” but were instead confronted by the woman’s head on the footpath.

Officers rushed to the street and later found the rest of her dismembered body in the kitchen. Several crime scenes have been established inside the family home, cops added.
