Competition fanatic wins his greatest prize yet — free IVF for his wife

A COMPETITIONS fanatic has won tot prize — free IVF for his wife.

Kevin and Nicci Button have been trying for a baby for three years.

Two IVF cycles on the NHS failed and it would have cost £5,000 a try to go private.

So Kevin, who has landed more than £20,000 worth of holidays, days out and gig tickets, turned to the internet.

He found a clinic in California offering free IVF to the couple they judged to be the most needful.

Kevin submitted a video on Instagram explaining how much IVF would mean to him and Nicci, both 35.

The builder’s merchant, from Caerphilly, South Wales, who set up a support group for men with fertility problems, kept it secret from her.

He said: “I’ve been winning competitions for years and that’s why I thought I’d try to see if we could win free IVF.

“We had nowhere else to turn and now I’ve got an amazing chance of becoming a dad. It’s wonderful.”

He added: “I decided to send in a video explaining our situation.

"I made it quite funny and dressed up in a pinny to stand out but there was a serious message there.

We had nowhere else to turn and now I’ve got an amazing chance of becoming a dad.

“I didn’t tell Nicci, I kept it as a surprise and we were thrilled to win. It’s given us hope when we didn’t think there was any.”

Business manager Nicci said: “We’ve had great times from all the competitions that Kevin has won and now this, the very best win.

“It’s our dream to have a family and this will hopefully make that dream come true.”

She added: “We’d have to have saved to have more IVF and the older you get the harder IVF is.

"Now is the prime time. It’s out of this world to get another chance. I’m looking forward to it.”

The treatment will take place early next year at the California IVF Fertility Center Sacramento.
