Yearly Departed Is the Funeral 2020 Deserves

We’ve never wanted to say goodbye to a year faster than we have with 2020. And now there’s an all-women comedy special to do it for us.

Starring Tiffany Haddish, Sarah Silverman, Rachel Brosnahan, Phoebe Robinson, and more, Prime Video’s Yearly Departed features a lineup of comics as they eulogize the cursed year and all the strangeness that came with it. That includes everything from influencers to beige Band-Aids, casual sex to TV cops, and nearly anything in between.

The show is produced The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel‘s Brosnahan and hosted by 2 Dope Queens‘s Robinson. The rest of the cast includes Haddish, Silverman, Natasha Rothwell (Insecure), Patti Harrison (Shrill, A Simple Favor), Natasha Leggero (Another Period), and Ziwe (Baited with Ziwe, Desus and Mero).

True to the theme, the special is set in a funeral home and the attendees are all dressed in black. At one point, Robinson even carries around a 2020 urn. But if you for one second thought this was going to be a solemn ceremony, let the footage of Tiffany Haddish twerking in a funeral parlor swiftly change your mind.

“After months and months of not shooting anything because of Covid, it’s really nice to return for an all-female cast, all female writers room, and female directed comedy special for @amazonprimevideo,” Robinson said of the project on Instagram. “So grateful to be a part of cast of comedy queens as we all tell 2020 to eat our biscuits! ”

Yearly Departed premieres on Prime Video on December 30. Watch the full trailer above.

RIP, 2020. You won’t be missed.
