Who is Kieron Dyer and did he date Cheryl Cole? – The Sun

KIERON DYER retired from football back in 2013 but has stayed involved in the sport and now coaches the under-23 team at Ipswich Town – where he himself began as a youngster.

The ex-England midfielder struggled for injury during his long career spending time with Newcastle, Ipswich and West Ham and will now put his physical and mental skills to test as he gears up for Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.

Who is Kieron Dyer?

DYER is a former England midfielder who retired from football in 2013. 

Following his retirement, he enjoyed a spell in I'm a Celebrity in in 2015 coming fourth.

He is now the under-16 coach at Ipswich.

This won't be the first time Kieron will be appearing on a celebrity TV show, having previously went on Im a Celebrity back in 2015 where he reached the semi-finals.

When did he date Cheryl?

IT is thought that Dyer and Cheryl – then Tweedy – dated in 2003, before she started going out with Ashley Cole. 

In his new book, Dyer talks about his brief fling with the ex Girls Aloud star.

During England camps many over his teammates would ask about Cheryl but no-one as much as Ashley Cole – who was apparently very interested in getting to know her.

During Dyer and Cheryl's relationship, the former footballer admitted that the relationship was doomed from the start as he was expecting a child with another woman at the time.

Despite this they kept in touch and in the book he admitted that Cheryl even seemed nervous on one of their dates having to have "a few drinks to calm herself."

Which football teams did he play for?

DYER started his career in his hometown with Ipswich at the age of 17. He spent three years at Portman Road before handing in a transfer request. 

In 1999, he moved to Newcastle where – despite making 190 appearances – he became most well known for the on-pitch brawl he had with teammate Lee Bowyer.

The event happened in 2005 during he Magpies game against Aston Villa and saw them both receive red cards.

The 39-year-old, who was blighted with injury throughout his career also played for West Ham where he made 30 appearances before joining QPR and Middlesbrough.

Midfielder Dyer made his debut for England in 1999 and made 33 appearances for the senior team including in the 2002 World Cup.
