When is Chris and Michaela Under the Christmas Sky on BBC2?

Chris and Michaela Under the Christmas Sky is airing TONIGHT Sunday December 23 at 9pm on BBC2.

The programme will follow Chris Packham and Michaela Strachan on a journey to discover the wonders of the skies.

Their journey will start in the Arabian desert where they will follow in the footsteps of the three wise men in pursuit of the Star of Bethlehem.

They will also travel to Norway's frozen fjords to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights.

What are the Northern Lights and the Star of Bethlehem?

The Northern Lights or aurora borealis are a natural phenomenon where coloured lights appear in the sky.

They are predominantly seen in high-latitude regions around the Artic and Antartic.

The Star of Bethlehem is said to be the star which led the three wise men to Jerusalem for the birth of Jesus.

Many astronomers have linked the star to unusual celestial events such as the conjunction of Jupiter and Venus.
