Ludwig starred alongside Arrow star Stephen Amell as Ace and Jack Spade in the new acclaimed drama for Starz earlier this year. After wrapping up the first season of Heels with a stellar finale last month, the Vikings star took to Instagram to thank his fans after it was announced the show had been picked up for a second instalment.
Starz officially confirmed a second season of Heels on Wednesday this week.
Season one came to a brutal conclusion with brothers Ace and Jack trading real blows in the Duffy Wrestling League ring.
Almost a month later, the wrestling drama has left fans with several unanswered questions which will be picked up in the next year or so.
Upon receiving the news, Heels’ co-lead Ludwig took to his Instagram page to celebrate the show’s impending return.
He wrote: “To all the fans and critics who flipped for the show- this is because of you.”
Ludwig then promised his followers: “We won’t let you down. See you for S2!”
The short teaser trailer released along with the announcement features a simple shot of the DWF ring, promising much more wrestling action to come.
Several fans took to the comments to celebrate the news of Heels’ return.

Heels debuted in August 2021 with solid ratings for Starz and overall acclaim from viewers and critics.
Starz has now confirmed production for the second season will begin in 2022, likely eying a premiere late next year or early 2023.
The main cast, including Kelli Berglund as Crystal Tyler and Allen Maldonado as Rooster Robbins, will all be returning for season two.
Plus, fan-favourite recurring stars Trey Tucker (Bobby Pin) and Robby Ramos (Diego Cottonmouth) have been upped to series regulars.
Starz CEO Jeffrey Hirsch said in a statement: “It’s clear from the critical and fan acclaim that the stories and characters from the Duffy Wrestling League have made a connection with audiences bringing a community that is not often found to premium TV.
“I’m excited for our amazing cast and executive producers to get back into the ring together for a second season.”
Heels was brought to Starz viewers by creator and executive producer Michael Waldron, who also penned Disney+’s gripping new Marvel series Loki.
Meanwhile, leading man Ludwig is still lining up more projects after his tenure on Vikings, most recently releasing his own self-titled country music EP.
Heels is available to watch on Starz in the US and Starzplay in the UK.
