TINA Turner's son died after his cancer returned just three weeks ago, his wife revealed.

Afida Turner, 45, posted a heartfelt tribute to Ronnie Turner late on Friday, explaining how he became seriously ill very suddenly before he tragically died on Thursday at the age of 62.

Alongside a picture of Ronnie and his late father Ike Turner, she described him as "a terrific musician and bass player" and an "amazing soul" with the "heart of a giant".

"Ronnie got sick in three weeks, f*** cancer," she wrote.

Police reportedly received a 911 call on Thursday morning from someone who said Ronnie was struggling to breathe outside the caller's home.

Sharing a black and white photo of herself on Instagram on Thursday, Tina Turner paid tribute to her son and wrote: "Ronnie, you left the world far too early.

"In sorrow I close my eyes and think of you, my beloved son."

The singer's devastating loss comes just four years after her eldest son Craig's suicide.

Craig Raymond Turner shot himself to death at his California home in 2018.

Tina was just 18 when she had Craig with Raymond Hill – who played the saxophone for the band Kings of Rhythm.

She later went on to marry Ike Turner, who adopted Craig after their marriage in 1962.

The Proud Mary singer gave birth to Ike's child Ronnie in 1960.

The couple split in 1976 after Tina accused Ike of beating her up.

Ike died of a drug overdose in 2007.
