This Morning’s Alison Hammond makes sly dig at co-star Dermot O’Leary off-screen

Alison Hammond wanted to rub the salt in the wounds of her This Morning co-star Dermot O'Leary after she'd been nominated for BAFTA award.

The 47-year-old TV star who began her career on the reality TV show Big Brother, was so excited with the announcement that she couldn't resist re-sharing the news on her Instagram feed ahead of Friday's programme.

However, her statement wasn't without a jibe which was aimed at her beloved co-host.

Sharing a sweet snap of the pair cosied up together and both beaming happy smiles, she penned: "Hope you can join the Bafta nominee and Dermot at 10am @thismorning."

Many fans and friends turned up to offer "proud" comments and laughing emojis.

Fellow This Morning star Rochelle Humes penned beneath the post: "I love you my little BAFTA nominee."

Another fan joked: "I cannot wait. Will you be mentioning the BAFTA at all on the show? Thanks for all the smiles?"

While a third quipped: "You look fabulous Alison, Dermot's got nothing against you here."

As it would happen, Alison did go on to mention her award somewhat on the programme, reminding Dermot that someday he might follow in her footsteps.

Friday's episode also proved to be a dream come true for Alison as took to the sofa for a flirtatious interview with Bridgerton star – Jonathan Bailey.

At one point, Dermot clutched his head in his hands after Alison thought the actor was about to get closer to her on the sofa as they talked steamy scenes.

Alison laughed as she told Jonathan: "Oh I thought you were going to come over and show me then," while the star – who plays Viscount Anthony Bridgerton in the Netflix smash hit – moved his leg into a more comfortable position.

After the break, the TV host was shown with a huge smile on her face as she danced Bridgerton style with Jonathan.

She told Dermot: "The best day of my life."

The former X Factor host shot her a look, hitting back with: "Normally we ask for a picture but that escalated quickly."

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV from 10am.
