The Weeknd gets his old face back for new Super Bowl commercial after fans shocked over his extreme 'plastic surgery’

THE Weeknd returned to his old look in the new Super Bowl commercial promoting his upcoming Pepsi halftime show at the February event.

Just days ago, the singer shocked fans after revealing what appeared to be extreme “plastic surgery” to his face.

On Friday, a one-minute promo video for The Weeknd’s Super Bowl LV performance was released, and it saw the artist’s facial features looking just as they used to.

He appears at the very end of the commercial, after 45 seconds of various people all over singing and dancing along to his song Blinding Lights, while they’re either working or just hanging out.

The final person to be rocking out to the synthwave-R&B track is a security guard inside of his glass booth.

Just as he’s getting into the song, the singer himself rolls up in a convertible in order to get through the gate, and the security guard has to do a double-take.

He had no problem recognizing The Weeknd as the driver because his face was back to its old appearance, prior to a year of wearing bandages around it and prior to posting a surgery-looking selfie and music video.

Earlier in the week, he left his fans "scared" after he debuted his new, freaky face in his new music video for Save Your Tears.

The singer had been wearing face bandages at in his videos, on his album cover and at 2020 events, including the American Music Awards in November.

He seemed to be showing fans the results of what those wraps were covering when he appeared in the new music video with an altered face.

One fan wrote: "WHATTT did The Weeknd do to his face and WHYYYY???? I have too many questions."

A second one begged someone to "explain what happened to The Weeknd’s face!?

In actuality, the 30-year-old had his face altered with prosthetics that emulated major plastic surgery.

Starboy hitmaker Abel Makkonen Tesfaye's freaky face looked to have been pumped with fillers in his cheeks and lips, as well as his nose chiseled.

Despite it all being fake, fans couldn't help but be shocked – and "horrified" – with his face change.

Some thought he modeled his face after his ex, Bella Hadid.

One fan wrote: "With the nose job and cheekbones, is the Weeknd mocking Bella Hadid?"

A second one shared: "I think The Weeknd is shading Bella Hadid, look at the nose and the lips and the pout, plastic!"

Meanwhile, others noted that the leading lady in the music video resembled another one of the singer's exes – Selena Gomez.

Commenters wrote as such on the YouTube video, with one saying: "Girl dancing looks like Selena…even sounds like he said her name."

Another person wrote: "Am I the only one hearing ‘Selena’ [in] the background."

The Weeknd is set to headline the Pepsi Halftime Show at the 2021 Super Bowl on February 7.

It's currently unknown as to whether he will don face prosthetics for the performance or not.
