A couple who melted hearts on TV’s The Undateables are to marry after he proposed on a festive edition of the hit show.
Autistic Daniel Wakeford met Lily Taylor, who has learning difficulties, after they were fixed up for a date for last year’s Christmas special.
In this year’s show, musician Daniel sings All I Want For Christmas Is You to Lily – with the help of a choir.
He then gets down on one knee to propose and lovingly places a diamond ring on her finger when she says yes.
“I did it!” Daniel, 30, shouted afterwards. “We love each other. I’m feeling very excited. What’s the best feeling in the world? Love.”
Lily, 23, said: “I’m so very happy Daniel proposed. We’re getting married! I love him very much.”
Their families watched the romantic scenes at Brighton Bandstand, Lily’s favourite spot in their home town.
Lily’s mum Karen, 53, said: “We absolutely sobbed our socks off with joy.
“She has won the love lottery. Daniel is perfect for her. They really understand each other.”
Daniel’s dad Barry, 69, a retired hairstylist, said: “When he found Lily, all his Christmases came at once.”
