The Masked Singer champ Nicola Roberts teases mystery identity of this year's finalists

NICOLA Roberts has teased the mystery identity of this year's The Masked Singer finalists.

The Girls Aloud singer hinted at the celebrities behind the disguises Badger, Sausage and Robin.

Nicola, 35, won the competition last year after being unmasked as Queen Bee and has returned as a panelist for this Saturday's final alongside Rita Ora, Jonathan Ross, Davina McCall and Mo Gilligan.

Speaking about the pre-recorded show, she said: "It’s a great final, full of talent.

"I was such a fan growing up of one of the contestants in particular. I knew instantly who it was.

"I was just freaking out that they were on the show and it was so exciting."

Nicola also said her experience on The Masked Singer last year meant that she had a knack for figuring out which clues were real and which had been planted to throw the judges off.

She said: "They’d go ‘Oh but last week they said this and the week before they said that’. And I said ‘Yes, but they lie!’

"What made it worse for me was knowing the games that backstage play on front of stage.

"The panel would take every little clue as gospel and I knew that there was so many red herrings."

However, she was stumped when it came to identifying Sue Perkins aka Dragon.

She said: "I guessed Sophie Ellis-Bexter immediately. There’s no mistaking her voice. Gabrielle too.

"I could not for the life of me get Dragon."

The audience voted for Nicola to win the competition last year, with Hedgehog – unmasked as Jason Manford – coming in second.

There is no prize for whoever wins The Masked Singer as it's all about the "bragging rights".

Meanwhile, pop star Gabrielle is ready to rekindle her career after reaching the semi-finals of ITV’s The Masked Singer.

She was the sensational voice behind the Harlequin disguise.

She said about her time on the show: "Apart from when I was feeling hot and out of breath, I felt like a million dollars in that costume.
