Where does The Great Yorkshire Show take place?
Fans who were unable to attend this year’s Great Yorkshire Show needn’t worry, as there is still a way for them to be involved.
Channel 5 will be broadcasting all the best bits from the annual event, showcasing livestock, machinery and other produce.
BBC and Channel 4 presenter Anita Rani will be leading the coverage, along with Countryfile presenter Julies Hudson.
Some of the special guests will include The Yorkshire Vet stars Julian Norton and Peter Wright.
Brothers Robert and David Nicholson from Springtime on the Farm will also take part.
The show takes place at the Great Yorkshire Showground in Railway Road, Harrogate.
The showground hosts events showcasing cattle, horses, pigs and sheep, and there is a wide range of trade exhibitors.
Harrogate is a town in North Yorkshire, just east of the picturesque Yorkshire Dales.
The area is known for being a spa resort and it is home to plenty of Turkish Baths and mineral springs.
There is plenty to do in Harrogate, which boats stunning gardens and family-friendly trips covering arts, culture, history and heritage.
The showground will be the base for the Channel 5 coverage and the first instalment will feature plenty of animals.
Duroc Pigs and Shire Horses will take to the show ring, and presenter Anita will go up against chefs to make the best Yorkshire Pudding.
Blacksmith Katie Ventress will be showing off her skills and vet Peter Wright will be assessing sheep in the show ring.
In the second episode, farmer Stephen Short will share his experiences after winning many prizes.
Emily Turner and son Jack, four, will be competing for the first time with their Golden Guernsey goats.
Fans will also be treated to a performance by the Yorkshire Volunteers Band and Jules will be making his own sausages.
This year’s show marks the 162nd year and it celebrates the very best of farming and the countryside.
The sell-out show began on July 13 and will wrap up on Friday, July 16.
The official Twitter account for the event has been sharing updates with visitors and fans, and they were pleased to report the show had sold out.
Usually, tickets are available to purchase at the gate, but this is not the case this year due to the event’s popularity.
ITV’s Kate Hemingway way at the event on Tuesday, and she said on Twitter: “We’re live at The Great Yorkshire Show bringing you the weather throughout the morning with
@Lauratobin1 on @GMB #greatyorkshireshow #flashflooding.”
Our Yorkshire Farm star Amanda Owen was also seen at the event, and Visit Doncaster shared a snap of the shepherdess.
They said: “SPOTTED. You’re always guaranteed to spot a famous face or two at the Great Yorkshire Show. Today we saw @AmandaOwen8 aka the Yorkshire Shepherdess. She’s been busy signing copies of her new book.” [Sic]
The show was cancelled in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, and plenty of safety measures have been put in place this year.
Residents and tourists were thrilled to hear the show would return this year, thanks to the efforts of the organisers.
