Strictly’s grisliest injuries – broken bones, ‘popping’ knees and tearing scars

Strictly Come Dancing is back on our screens again, which means a fresh new batch of celebs have been battling it out on the dance floor.

In their bid to lift the famous glitterball trophy on the BBC One show, the celebrity contestants must undergo a strict regime of intense training sessions and daunting dance routines.

This year's star-studded line-up includes BBC Breakfast host Dan Walker, Gordon Ramsay's daughter Tilly Ramsay, and McFly singer Tom Fletcher.

However, the grueling rounds of training sessions and daring dance moves don't come without their risks, and many celebrities have fallen victim to some gruesome injuries whilst competing on the show in the past.

Before this year's series even started, BBC presenter Dan managed to sustain a nasty head injury which meant he had to be rushed to A&E.

To mark the return of the iconic dancing show, Daily Star have have rounded up the most brutal injuries we've witnessed over the years.

Made In Chelsea star Jamie Laing was forced to drop out of his series after he suffered a nightmare foot injury.

The reality star had been starring on Series 17 of the show in 2019, and he was partnered up with pro dancer Oti Mabuse.

However, his time was cut short when he injured his foot during an ensemble dance which featured all of the pro dancers and contestants.

However, she managed to recover and eventually reach the final of the competition.

A Strictly spokesperson said at the time: "Artem was initially diagnosed with a transverse process fracture of the lumbar spine,"

"However, the latest medical advice from a spinal specialist following further scans is that he is suffering with a combination of joint and soft tissue injury"

Artem only took a week off to recover from the spinal scare, leaving Brendan Cole to dance with Holly in the meantime.
