Strictly Come Dancing finalist Faye Tozer has confessed she wants to leave her Steps image behind.
The singer, who is competing in this Saturday’s grand finale, has loved standing on her own two feet over the course of the series.
Although that has proven to be quite tricky at times as Faye has been hit by waves of injuries while dancing with professional partner Giovanni Pernice.
The 43-year-old has struggled with cuts and bruises but has battled through the pain to get within touching distance of the famous Glitterball trophy.
Faye believes her high level of commitment and constant issues with her Latin shoes have caused her injury woes.
She admitted she does have some dancing experience but has never worked closely with a partner before.
Speaking ahead of the final, Faye said: "I don’t know whether it’s I’m particularly clumsy or I bruise like a peach. Who knows? I think because I’ve not done lifts or partner work or anything like this before.
"Also with my shoes, I’ve talked about it a lot of times. my Latin shoes don’t like my feet. Cuts and bruises. I think it’s because I put full commitment in. I shred my body.
She jokingly added: "And I’m not getting any younger."
Faye found fame in pop group Steps, who achieved many top of the chart single between 1997 until they split in 2001.
The band later reformed and went on an arena tour, but Faye found solo success in the intervening years in the West End.
She believes Strictly has given her the platform to reignite her theatre career and help her move on from the ‘Faye from Steps’ tag.
On life after Strictly, she said: "I’m really lucky. Outside of Steps I do a lot of musical theatre and things like that.
"For me Strictly has just raised a massive platform and shown people probably more of what I can do outside of Steps. That’s been a really exciting thing for me. So more of the above please."
However, fellow finalist Stacey Dooley reminded her: "You will always be Faye from Steps."
The Strictly Come Dancing final airs at 6.30pm on Saturday on BBC1.
