Strictly ‘fix’ claims as Catherine Tyldesley’s exit starts BBC war against ITV

Strictly Come Dancing is facing 'fix' claims from disgruntled viewers after tonight's shock result.

Catherine Tyldesley and her professional partner Johannes Radebe were controversially sent home during a frightful Halloween week.

The judges were split after the dreaded dance-off but head judge Shirley Ballas had the casting vote and decided to save Mike Bushell and Katya Jones.

Some outraged Strictly fans are threatening to boycott the rest of the series in protest at Catherine's surprise exit as a war erupts between the BBC and ITV.

And many are complaining of 'bias' because the BBC Breakfast star was saved over the former Coronation Street star.

Outraged Strictly Come Dancing viewers took to Twitter after the controversial decision.

One viewer tweeted: "Typical #Strictly2019 #Strictly keep the BBC person whose awful & get rid of the ITV person whose excellent #scd bias"

"That's ball it's a fix all because Mike works for the BBC that's the only reason he won," added another.

A third agreed: "Not the biggest strictly observer but to save Mike who is a full time BBC employee over a girl Catherine who made her name on itv show, did they get told who to save"

"So wrong #Strictly #Strictly2019 voting Catherine off the show Mike should have gone. @BBC bias again," said a fourth.

The judges were evenly split on who they wanted to send home, but Shirley had the deciding vote as head judge.

Craig Revel Horwood chose to send Catherine packing, but Motsi Mabuse and Bruno Tonioli opted to save the ex-Corrie star.

Acid-tongued Craig Revel Horwood said: "One couple for me really stepped it up a notch. The couple I’d like to save is Mike & Katya."

Motsi said: "I felt a strong performance, stronger body actions, stronger leg actions. I’m saving Catherine & Johannes."

While Bruno added: "It’s hard because you’ve both done very, very well, but purely based on tonight I have to save the couple that got me tingling a little bit more and I have to save Catherine & Johannes."

Shirley was given the final decision and decided that Mike had put in a stronger performance in the dance-off.

The head judge said: "Well, I thought both couples really step it up a notch and this is always the most difficult decision for me.

"But based on a good focus, difficult content, with some really beautiful footwork in there with stronger technical skills for me, cleaner and polished. I’m going to save Mike & Katya."

Catherine was left in tears after being told she was going home after failing to impress with her Cha Cha to Scared Of The Dark by Steps.

Giving her reaction, she turned to Johannes and said: "Him, yeah, he’s like my best friend. He’s just…oooh, (referring to eye make-up) it’s waterproof…just the opportunity to work with amazing people and get critiqued off amazing people.

"I never thought I’d say this, I’m going to keep it up because I fell in love with it! I’ve loved every second, this man has changed my life!"

Johannes, who had his first celeb partner this series, said: "Okay Tess, the beautiful thing is that I need to thank Strictly Come Dancing for the opportunity…thank you."

"Most of all, I want to say thank you to this woman. She has been a light for me. Thank you for accepting me for who I am and for showing me joy every day. Thank you!"
