However, some single celebrities and professionals will also end up falling in love on the dance-floor, as they get up close and personal during the competition.
Here's a recap of the most sizzling romances ever to come out of Strictly Come Dancing.
Ben Cohen and Kristina Rihanoff
Former rugby star Ben Cohen shook the showbiz world after his stint on the BBC show in 2013, when he hooked up with professional dancer Kristina after breaking up with his wife.
Ben left his wife of 11 years Abby after appearing on the competition.
He was forced to deny he was romantically involved with stunning Kristina after snaps of the couple surfaced online of the pair cosying up together on a London tube during his marriage to Abby.
The couple have gone from strength-to-strength since, and welcomed their first child together in 2016.
Rachel Riley and Pasha Kovalev
Countdown host Rachel Riley surprised her fans when she announced she and her ex-husband Jamie Gilbert were splitting after 16 months of marriage.
She was partnered with Russian professional Pasha during her time on the competition in 2013, which eventually led to her marriage breakdown.

The loved-up couple now live together in London.
Their adorable romance has led them to welcome a baby together in recent months.
Jimi Mistry and Flavia Cacace
Flavia Cacace once dated former Strictly star Matt Di Angelo, until she split with him in 2010.
A few weeks after, she went on to date her latest Strictly partner, Jimi.
At the time, the stunning dancer was worried she'd be judged after falling for two contestants from the show.
She previously told The Telegraph: "I couldn't believe it. I thought, 'Oh God, please no!' But we couldn't help it. It was fate."
The couple have been married since 2013 and have never looked back.
Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton
Documentary maker Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton fell in love when she was partnered up with him on Strictly.
She was dating long-term boyfriend Sam Tucknott for five years before her relationship fell apart.
They split following her stint on the competition, which she won with Kevin in 2018.
Sam claimed he found "I love you" texts from Kevin on her phone, which prompted the former couple's break-up.
When their split was announced in March, it had been put down to hectic work schedules, but speculation grew that Stacey had grown close to her dancing partner.
They are now happily together.
Joe Sugg and Dianne Buswell
Former YouTube star Joe Sugg confirmed they were dating after they finished the show.
They went public with their romance after he shared an Instagram post with the red-haired beauty, which read: "I may not have won the glitter ball, but I’ve won something a million times more special."
Dianne had split with her ex-boyfriend Emmerdale actor Anthony Quinlan just three weeks into the series.

Rumours swirled that the pair had been flirting throughout the show, but they didn't get together until after the final.
The couple got to know each other better through the Strictly Come Dancing tour and have been inseparable since.
On February 1 they announced they were expecting their first baby together.
