Stacey Solomon bravely reveals Joe Swash had secret heartbreak after baby Rex was born: ‘It’s a trauma’

Stacey Solomon has revealed boyfriend Joe Swash was hit with the “trauma” of his late father’s death following the arrival of their son Rex earlier this year.

The stunning presenter, 30, opened up on Joe’s secret heartache after losing his father at the age of 11 in 1994.

Speaking on ITV's Loose Women, Stacey, 29, revealed Joe was left heartbroken after the sudden loss of his London taxi cab driver father, who passed away suddenly.

The devastation surfaced again in May when she and Joe, 37, welcomed their first child together, with the presenter being left heartbroken that he could never introduce his baby to his father.

Mother-of-three Stacey told her fellow panellists on the show when discussing grief: “It is a trauma and I am always surprised that people are surprised that you grieve forever.

“Joe lost his dad when he was 11 and it has had a fundamental impact on his life, especially when huge life events happen – even if they're really positive.

“When we had Rex, it was a trauma. At the same time as being the most wonderful thing in the world.”

Stacey continued by praising Joe as “resilient” and an “incredible person” as she revealed he’s constantly dealing with the tragedy of losing a parent.

It comes after Joe took to social media to pay a loving tribute to Stacey alongside an adorable image of their baby son.

Posting to his one million followers, he captioned the sweet upload: "Coming home to these two makes my whole day."

The image sees doting mum Stacey beaming at her third son — and first with boyfriend Joe — as he pulls a wide eyed grin at the camera.

Stacey recently opened up on the future, saying that she’s “not bothered” about getting married, but does want an engagement ring.

Speaking to new! magazine, she said: "I want an engagement ring, but I’m not bothered about getting married – neither of us are!

"I have those weird preset ideas that I should get married and have a big white dress, but it’s not the be-all and end-all."

She added: "We have our family, we’re together, we’re practically married in our opinion. That piece of paper for us isn’t something we feel we need right now."

When asked if she would try for a little girl after welcoming three sons, the star said: "No. Oh my God, I would be having kids for decades!

"I wouldn’t be up for gender selection because we’ve got our four children between us and that is a huge privilege.

"I wouldn’t have another baby to have a different gender. If we were going to have more children it would be for other reasons."
