Sky News Sunrise presenter Sarah-Jane Mee undergoes op for paralysed vocal cord after spending weeks on and off air being treated for laryngitis

The star, 40, had been absent from screens for the past few weeks with what was first thought to be laryngitis.

But she has finally found out what was wrong with her – and had it treated.

Sarah took to Instagram this morning to share a picture of herself in bed at hospital.

In the pic, she's wearing hospital pyjamas and has stitches across her throat.

She wrote: "Just wanted to say thank you for your kind wishes.

"Turns out I didn’t have laryngitis after all but a paralysed vocal cord…it’s been a challenging few weeks.

"Just had treatment that will see me back @SkyNews #Sunrise in the NY.

"My team @skynews have been incredibly supportive.

"As you can imagine not being able to do the job I love has been really tough. Here’s to a happy & healthy 2019 for all of us!"

Sarah's followers were quick to wish her a speedy recovery.

One wrote: "Hope you feel better soon honey".

Another said: "Get well soon sj and have great Christmas and hope see you soon on sky tv."

A third wrote: "Wishing you a speedy recovery and a happy festive season and a healthy new year."
