S CLUB 7 star Paul Cattermole revealed what he’d trade fame for in a resurfaced video following his death.

The 46-year-old singer had been looking forward to joining his former S Club bandmates for a reunion tour scheduled for later this year.

But it was revealed yesterday that the singing star had sadly died.

In the video, Paul admits he’d swap fame for his “one true love,” during an appearance on First Dates Hotel in 2019.

The iconic singer said money and recognition “weren’t the route to happiness,” but that finding love was.

He said: “Would I have traded the success and the number ones, for one true love? Well I think yeah, yeah.

S Club 7 ‘concerned’ before Paul Cattermole’s death as he ‘was very quiet’

“Fame isn’t the route to happiness, money isn’t the route to happiness, being with someone who you love is.”

Paul was never married.

However, he did have a long-term on and off relationship with former S Club 7 bandmate, Hannah Spearritt.

Paul's former girlfriend and co-star is said to have "broken down" after hearing the devastating news of his passing.

A source told The Sun: “Everyone is in pieces. Hannah and the rest of the gang broke down when told what happened.

“No one can believe it. There is a real sense of horror and disbelief.”

Paul and Hannah first met as members of the National Youth Music Theatre in 1994.

At the time, Cattermole was 17 years old and Spearritt was 14.

In 1999 they the pair were both selected as members of a seven-member pop group named S Club 7.

But it wasn’t until May 2001 that their friendship turned romantic.

They kept their relationship a secret for the first six months before making a public announcement in November 2001.

Their S Club colleagues were supportive of their romance.

They dated until 2006 before getting back together in 2015, but they split shortly after.
