Fans of the hit Starz series were shocked when season six of Power finally revealed who murdered Ghost in the devastating finale. Thankfully, the story will continue with four new spin-offs hitting screens over the next few years. Amid delays caused by the coronavirus pandemic, Tasha St Patrick star Naturi Naughton has given viewers a sinister warning before the first sequel series is released.
Audiences were stunned when the enigmatic lead of the hit Starz series, Power, James ‘Ghost’ St Patrick (played by Omari Hardwick) was gunned down by his own son in season six.
Following the exhilarating events of the series finale, a new spin-off is set to follow the lives of Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr) and Tasha St Patrick (Naturi Naughton) after Ghost’s murder.
Power: Book II now has a premiere date following slight delays caused by the ongoing pandemic, and is set to hit screens on September 6.
The first of four sequel series will see Tariq continue his career as a teen drug dealer whilst adjusting to a new life in college.
Meanwhile, Tasha is still serving time in jail after taking the fall for Ghost’s murder whilst her son devises a plan to set her free.
Courtney Kemp returns to her duties as series showrunner, and the current cast will be joined by newcomers Mary J Blige and Method Man.
Ahead of the premiere of Power Book II, Naturi Naughton has opened up about the difficulties of reprising her role as Tasha St Patrick.
In a behind-the-scenes clip she warned: “I know it’s gonna be hard to close the chapter of Power, but trust me, we got you. So get ready.”
Some fans were concerned that Power would lose some of its magic following the death of its integral lead character, Ghost.
Thankfully, all the talent from the original series will be returning for the show’s continuation, plus some exciting new stars to shake things up.
Cliff ‘Method Man’ Smith is expected to play a pivotal role in Tasha’s freedom as a wily and influential defense lawyer, David McLean.
Additionally, award winner Mary J Blige will also join the throng as powerful business rival, Monet.

In the exclusive behind-the-scenes video, Method Man praised the foundations of the original series that came before his entry into the world of Power.
He said: “I give all the credit to the cast that came before this show was even established.
“It wouldn’t be this show if the original cast didn’t put it down the way they did, because they created this world and we’re just a part of it right now.”
As well as the second series exploring the aftermath of Ghost’s death, Power will also be succeeded by spin-offs centred on governor-to-be Rashad Tate (Larenz Tate) and Ghost’s loyal friend Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora).
Plus, the highly anticipated Book III: Raising Kanan, will finally shed light on Ghost, Tommy and Kanan Stark’s (Curtis ‘50 Cent’ Jackson) early lives dealing drugs on the streets of New York.
Currently, there have been no confirmed release dates for the subsequent spin-offs, although Raising Kanan has started production.
Book IV: Influence and Book V: Force are also hoped to hit screens at some point in 2021.
Power season 6 is available to stream on Netflix. Power Book II: Ghost will premiere September 6 on Starz.
