Phillip Schofield updates This Morning fans on Holly Willoughby Covid battle

Josie Gibson stood in for Holly Willoughby on ITV’s This Morning as Phillip Schofield confirmed that Holly is “absolutely fine”.

Josie wore a stylish khaki green shirt dress with a brown belt and heels, while Phillip wore a red and blue checked shirt as they welcomed viewers to the show.

After their greeting, Phillip confirmed that he had been “texting Holly all through the weekend”.

“She’s absolutely fine, she just has that incredibly persistent and annoying red line that won’t go away, so she’ll be sitting at home. It’s driving her crazy,” he informed viewers.

He turned to Josie and said it was “lovely to see her”, to which Josie replied that they “do have a laugh” together.

He said: “We do, there’s been a major discussion even before the show came on air that when we sit at the breakfast bar, we’re both the same height. We sit at the breakfast bar, on the stools.”

Josie told him that if she was to “take her heels off” Phil would be taller, to which her co-star said that “she is taller” when they sit down next to each other.

She gestured to her body and said that she had a “longer torso” as Phil ordered her to take her heels off.

The 37-year-old removed her shoes and lowered her foot to the floor to show viewers that Phil was indeed taller.

A confused Phillip remarked: “I can’t understand what’s happening at the breakfast table, although Alex, our floor manager, just said: ‘Phil, maybe you’ve just got a small torso.’”

Josie commented on his “lovely long legs” and Phillip jokingly told her to “shut up”.

Disappointed fans took to Twitter to comment on Holly’s absence for another week.

One said that Holly “must be enjoying her time off”, while another speculated that they “don’t buy” that she isn’t well and think that “something is brewing”.

More sympathetic fans wished Holly well and complemented Josie for doing a good job as her replacement.

One fan tweeted that she “brightens their day” and told her to “bring on” the rest of the show.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV
