Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby welcomed Nick Ferrari and Camilla Tominey onto Wednesday’s This Morning to reflect on the headlines of the day. The discussion quickly turned to the ongoing fuel crisis and Camilla noted she and Nick may shoulder some of the blame by reporting on panic buying. However, when Phillip pointed out that This Morning had initially shied away from the crisis, viewers were quick to slam the presenter.
Discussing the crisis, Camilla questioned: “Who’s at fault for this?
“Maybe it’s me and Nick and the media because we obviously reported there was this leak from BP expressing concerns about shortages.”
Interrupting, Phillip said: “We didn’t report that, we didn’t go for it because of that very reason.”
“In defence of the media,” Camilla continued. “It has been the media who ever since has said for god’s sake stop stockpiling.

“We’re reporting all of these tales of people on the frontline being short of fuel so carers, nurses and frankly people who cannot work from home, electricians and plumbers who cannot get to work and they’re losing money.”
Despite Phillip’s assertion, viewers weren’t happy when the presenter joked about shortages later on in the programme.
Infuriated viewer @nigel_1963 tweeted: “Phillip Schofield said in an item earlier ‘we didn’t report on the fuel crisis’ and yet now cracks a joke about fuel availability and cost at every opportunity #ThisMorning #canthaveitbothways.”
“@thismorning please let Phillip know there is no fuel shortage he keeps saying there is,” @maryoflondon54 added.
@DavidMackayy wrote: “If people like Holly and Phil didn’t even mention the fuel crisis, there wouldn’t be an issue and things would get back to normal #thismorning.”
Elsewhere on the show, Phillip fumed when he spotted a Christmas tree in the studio.
Holly and Phillip were joined by beauty expert Sarah Jossel who was showcasing luxury advent calendars.
Holly said: “It feels like we’ve only just packed away the picnic blankets but apparently now is the perfect time to shop for your beauty advent calendar.”

Sarah, who was flanked by a festive tree, asked: ”How do we feel? The Christmas tree is up!”
“Really happy,” Holy replied before Sarah added: “Me too secretly! It might seem like a long time but the best beauty calendars are available now or coming soon.”
“It’s not even October yet!” Phillip hit back at his co-host and the beauty expert.
“I really don’t care,” Holly quipped before Phillip remarked: “You’d have it all year round.”
