Netflix has unveiled the first look at its own brand of Sex Education. The SVOD service has revealed the first images of the British comedy drama, starring Gillian Anderson.
The X-Files star plays a sex therapist in the series, which is produced by British indie Eleven Film. She is joined by Ender’s Game star Asa Butterfield, who plays Otis Thompson, a socially awkward high school virgin who lives his sex therapist mother. He teams up with “whip-smart bad-girl” Maeve to set up a clinic to deal with their fellow students’ weird and wonderful problems.
The coming-of-awkward-age dramedy was created by newcomer Laurie Nunn. The series is set for a 2019 launch. It will be exec produced by Eleven Film co-founders Jamie Campbell and Joel Wilson and will be directed by Catastrophe’s Ben Taylor, who also exec produces. Ncuti Gatwa (Stonemouth), Connor Swindells (Harlots) and Kedar Williams-Stirling (Will) round out the cast.
