Mrs Brown’s Boys creator Brendan O’Carroll has signalled “the show must go on” even though two of its stars have walked out.

The cast of the hit BBC comedy actors posted a photo of everyone back together on a Zoom call and having a laugh while doing a read-through of the Christmas Day special ahead of filming.

However Gary Hollywood and Damien McKiernan – who play gay couple Dino Doyle and Rory Brown – are missing from the line-up.

The pair are said to have quit the TV sitcom in a row over pay and after hearing their roles in the Christmas and New Year specials had been cut down.

However, the Zoom photo – released on the show’s official social media account – is proof that it is “business as usual” without them.

And in another slap in the face for Gary and Damien, the pair do not even feature in the Mrs Brown’s Boys’ 2021 calendar.

They are missing from the cast shot on the cover with co-stars Jennifer Gibney and Danny O’Carroll despite having featured in editions in previous years.

Damien has not spoken about the backstage drama.

And Gary recently told listeners to his Monster Radio show in Lanzarote.

He said: “I am in Glasgow and it’s going fine. Mrs Brown’s Boys is coming out for Christmas. It wouldn’t be the same without them.”

Last night the BBC declined to comment.

Mrs Brown's Boys is set to return to the BBC for a Christmas special but the channel is yet to confirm details to eager fans.
