Love Island: Tommy branded 'controlling' as ex warns Molly-Mae against 'signs'

Love Island star Tommy Fury has been branded ‘controlling’ by his ex-girlfriend Millie Roberts.

The claims will come as a shock to Love Island fans as the 20-year-old professional boxer has become a fan favourite thanks to his drama-free attitude, commitment to Molly-Mae Hague and close friendships with the other islanders.

But Millie, 22, from Manchester has a stark warning for social media influencer Molly-Mae, calling on her to ‘be careful and don’t ignore the warning signs’.

‘He’s very good at talking, he’s very smooth and calming, he would talk his way out of any situation,’ said Millie, hinting that he would cheat on Molly-Mae.

‘Don’t ignore red flags when they come up. He will talk his way out of it. He would lie about where he was every weekend, he would say he was with his granddad but he wouldn’t be, he’d be out and staying in hotel rooms.’

She said that the boxer would often send her texts threatening to end their relationship and calling her a ‘dirty cheat’ if she wasn’t home by midnight, adding: ‘He’s really controlling.’

Reps for Tommy have been contacted by Metro.co.uk.

Millie and Tommy dated for two years but she alleged in May that he called it quits on their relationship so he could pursue ‘money and fame’ on the ITV2 show.

Now, speaking to The Sun, she has suggested that he would often talk down at her and make her feel worthless despite her claims that she never cheated ‘or gave him any reason to be that way’.

Millie also alleged that when he ended their romance it was to focus on his career, with Tommy telling her he ‘didn’t want a relationship until he was 30’.

Tommy entered the villa and instantly became popular with the girls, with Molly-Mae, Lucie Donlan and Maura Higgins all setting their sights on him.

He stayed true to Molly-Mae though and recently made their romance official, asking her to be his girlfriend.

They now look set to make it to the final but body language expert Judi James believes that the pro boxer may in fact be moving too fast for 20-year-old Molly-Mae.

When asked about Molly-Mae’s behaviour since Tommy dropped the ‘I love you’ bomb, Judi says: ‘She started doing what Bill Clinton did and analysing it: “It depends what love means.” It’s a good way to stall for time.’

‘There was a point when they were in the bedroom together when she flinched as he went for her so there’s a lot of signs she needs longer – she’s very young.’

Love Island airs Sunday – Thursday at 9pm on ITV2.
