Love Island newbie Catherine Agbaje fell ill just hours into filming starting for the new series, with paramedics rushing to the villa.

It's reported that the beauty, who has been coupled up with Andre Furtado after the public vote, had a "funny turn" during the initial filming on Saturday (June 3).

Host Maya Jama was forced to bring the filming to a stop while Catherine was seen to by on-site medics, with production eventually resuming.

A source claimed to The Sun: "Catherine started to feel ill during filming and she was seen by the villa's medical team.

"Her welfare was the priority and filming with the other islanders and Maya was stopped until she was feeling better.

"It seemed the heat, nerves and not eating enough was the cause of her turn and she returned to filming not long after."

Meanwhile, a second source said that Catherine was seen "instantly" by the show's medical team, who cleared her return to filming when they were sure she was alright.

During Monday night's first episode (June 5), Catherine was put together with Andre by the first public vote of the series.

The other couples chosen by the viewers were: Ella Thomas and Tyrique Hyde; Jess Harding and George Fensom; Molly Marsh and Mitchel Taylor; and Ruchee Gurung and Mehdi Edno.

However things never last too long this early on Love Island, and Maya returned to the villa with a surprise – the first bombshell of the series.

Soon, new hunk Zachariah Noble strolled into the villa, with Maya giving the girls the option to say if they didn't think they'd been paired with the right guy.

Both Ruchee and Jess stepped forward, but that means nothing, as Zachariah was told he could couple up with any of the girls, whether they were happy in their pairing or not.

Viewers will have to tune in to see who Zachariah picks – and it seems like they will be.

Many fans branded the opening episode the best in a long time, with some suggesting it was the best ever, after recent complaints of getting bored of the format.

Love Island airs nightly at 9pm on ITV2
