Love Island 2019 Episode 2 – what happened? Recap, gossip and highlights from the second episode

LOVE Island second episode of the series saw things seriously beginning to heat up.

Not long after Tommy Fury and Curtis Pritchard’s arrival, two couples are shockingly torn apart and certain Islanders are not happy about it. Here are all the details…

What happened in episode 2 of Love island?

Tommy confides in Curtis about his instant crush on Lucie and Amber while the original male Islanders gather together to discuss the dynamic in the villa.

While everyone agrees that the atmosphere remains positive, there seemed to be a great concern about the new guys stealing a female Islander from one of the other guys.

Joe Garratt seemed somewhat apprehensive about the new Islanders considering that he didn't want anyone getting close to Lucie.

It's evidently clear that Joe is worried, telling the guys: “We’re going to have to see how it goes and who the boys choose”.

Minutes later, Anton and Tommy continued to gush over Lucie, who is busy cozying up and chatting with Joe Garratt in the bedroom.

When the Islanders finally prepare to call it a night, Tommy noticed that Lucie was sharing her bed with Joe and he didn't look too pleased about it either.

Later on, the Islanders took time out of their day to soak up the sun and relax before Michael Griffiths received a text message.

“Islanders. It’s time to reveal each other’s juiciest secrets in today’s challenge, ‘Slide into the DM’s’ #PuckerUp #SlipItIn #KissAndTell”.

The aim of the game was simple: each guy had to get greased up and slide down into a pool filled with slime in order to recover a secret about one of the female Islanders.

The hard part, however, came with the understanding that the male Islander then has to decide who he thinks the secret is about.

And in order to validate his decision, he must plant a kiss on one of the girls.

Joe Garratt seemed sure that a particular secret was about Lucie Donlan, so he wasted no time to kiss her – but did he really think it was about her or did he just want to make out with the professional surfer?

The girls were up next to compete in the challenge, and it wasn't long before Anna Vakili and Sherif Lanre – who shared a bed the night prior – smooched.

Tommy asserts that he's not a macho man

Being a boxer can have its disadvantages, according to Tommy, having told the boys that he is often judged for his profession and his last name.

Tommy argued that he’s far from the person people think he is, stressing: “It’s mad because everyone judges me on my last name as being a d***head but I am anything but that. I love Hannah Montana for God’s sake! There isn’t one bad bone in my body”.

Despite his impressive physique, Tommy is a soft guy at heart – at least it seems that way.

He makes it known to Lucie that he understands Joe is making moves to win her over, but he didn't shy away from telling the blonde bombshell that he's attracted to her.

Sherif and Anna become extremely close

Anna certainly didn’t give the impression that she was into Sherif during the premiere episode, but things have certainly changed.

The couple revealed they shared a bed together for the first night and it seems there’s a genuine relationship being formed between the two.

Explaining how she felt about Sherif, Anna revealed: “Last night was nice. I feel like me and Anna are on the same page.

“We’re going at the same pace. She’s a lovely girl all round. So, I’m chuffed. I’m really happy with the choice I made. The subs-bench worked out for me!”

When quizzed by the other female Islanders about her night with Sherif, Anna kept things simple, telling the group that they simply had “a little snuggle”.

“Sherif’s like my human hot water bottle. It was nice. He’s really good at the snuggles.”

Amber is looking for a new Islander to couple up with

Amber Gill and Callum Macleod come to the understanding that they are not meant to be together, but there doesn’t seem to be any animosity on either end.

Callum, despite mentioning that he does have an attraction to Amber, seems to be aware of the fact that she is not invested in even trying with him.

It’s not until Amber enters the Beach Hut that she finds the courage to admit who she’s currently got her eyes on.

The 21-year-old beauty therapist admitted: “Tommy has got a nice face, he’s quite nice. And I am attracted to Joe”.

Tommy and Curtis are determined to find their other half

Amber is another Islander that Tommy wants to get to know better, having told her during a brief chat that she looked amazing in her outfit.

She tried to help him in making a decision with who he could see himself settling down with, saying: “You should go with whatever your heart feels like, whatever your gut is telling you”.

Meanwhile, Curtis acknowledges that he has an attraction to Amy and Yewande, mentioning how he wished he had kissed the scientist during the competitive game they had played earlier in the day.

Yewande reveals that the feelings she shares for Curtis are mutual, adding that he’s a lovely guy, which seemed to imply that they could potentially hit it off.

Despite their closeness, Amy lets it be known that she also shares a connection with Curtis and thinks they’d make a perfect match.

“I don’t feel like I have to force anything with Curtis because it’s all so easy so I’m hoping that he picks me. But he was just talking to Yewande again. So, I don’t know”.

The boys are left to make a relatively hard decision, but in the end, Tommy ended up picking Lucie while Curtis chose Amy.
