Over the weekend it was revealed that Meghan Markle had given birth to a daughter, and the Loose Women ladies were unimpressed with the choice of name.
Prince Harry and Meghan named their child Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor.
The name came from the Queen’s nickname when she was a child, and it has been said the little girl will be called Lili.
Diana is of course a nod to Harry’s late mother, the beloved Princess Diana.
Carol McGiffin was unimpressed, questioning the couple’s motives for choosing the name after all of the interviews they have given in the last few months.
Jane Moore also disagreed with the choice: “Diana, yeah, I get, and that would have been really nice. But actually she’s not going to be called Lilibet, she’ll be called Lili, which they’ve made very clear. Lilibet was very much a nickname.”
She continued: “The Queen couldn’t say her name when she was a kid. Prince Philip took it up as a affectionate thing between the two of them.
“I suppose it gives a link to the Queen, but three weeks ago Harry was almost criticising his father’s parenting skills and saying that’s how he was parented. That put the Queen’s parenting skills in the spotlight.”
She shrugged: “Maybe I’m just a cynical old bag? Yes, probably.”
Linda Robson thought it was sweet: “I think it’s lovely they’ve named her after the Queen, and also Diana. I think Lilibet is a bit more modern than Diana. No-one called Linda is in their early teens."
She added: "I always wanted one of my Grandchildren to have my name in the middle but that never happened.”
