LIAM Payne appearing to suggest he was planning to fight Tommy Fury backfired as he was mocked by fans.
The One Direction singer teased a special "announcement" with a photo of him facing off with the boxer.
it turned out the mock-up fight poster of himself and Tommy was actually to promote a charity football match.
The singer captained England in last year's Soccer Aid match in front of 54,000 fans at the London Stadium.
He's now making a return and will take on Tyson Fury's brother who just won a fight against YouTube boxer Jake Paul.
But Liam and Tommy were bombarded with abuse online as fans failed to appreciate the joke.
