Kate Wright reveals battle with crippling anxiety and struggles to 'love herself' in poignant social media post

Rio Ferdinand's fiance took to Instagram on Tuesday and said "most days are a battle" when it comes to managing her mental health.

In a lengthy post, she spoke candidly for the first time about her suffering, and said she will be more open with her fans from now on.

The 26-year-old said: "One of my New Years resolutions is to accept myself, something I struggle with.

"Anyone that knows me well knows I suffer with bad anxiety & really struggle to love myself.

"Most days are a battle with what’s going on in my head. I’ve sort of kept this off social media as I’ve been to scared to share it, and the less I shared the more distant Instagram is from my daily life…

"That’s going to change this year. I’m going to give more of the ups and downs, not just the fun times."

The star is often praised for her incredible figure and her life with Rio, after she quit Towie to help raise his kids.

And Kate, who recently defended going on a posh holiday with Rio, 40, said she'll worry less about what people think of her.

She went on: "This year I will not let society’s views on who I should be and what I should look like effect me.

"I have been so busy making sure everyone else if ok that I have forgot about looking after myself properly …. This year I am working on me; mind, body, soul."

Kate shared her statement alongside a quote, which read: "I am obsessed with becoming a woman comfortable in her own skin."

Kate recently stood up for herself and Rio after a cruel critic slammed their swanky family holiday on social media.

She wrote: "Money doesn't make looking after three children that have lost their mum easier.

"Yes we can have nice holidays but money can't bring back loved ones and heal grief.

"Looking after children and caring for them comes from the heart, not from the bank."

Rio's late wife passed away following a battle with breast cancer in 2015 – but gave her blessing for her husband to marry again.
