The comedian, 48, shocked fans earlier this year when he posted a selfie that showed his thinner face and healthy new lifestyle.
The star says he has lost over four stone, after tipping the scales at 18 stone.
Speaking on today's Sunday Brunch, Johnny confessed he used camera trickery to make himself look like he'd lost even more weight.
He said: "The weight loss wasn't shocking… it took ages!"
Johnny appeared on the show with his Death co-star Sian Gibson, who accused him of sucking in his cheeks.
He replied: "No I didn't! I used an app, joking, and I posted it. It did look a bit shocking.
"It did look like I should be in a TB (Tuberculosis) hospital."
Johnny’s fans couldn’t believe their eyes when he posted the picture on Twitter in July, alongside a snap of his healthy breakfast of eggs, chopped tomatoes and avocado.
One told him: “Wow you look amazing, well done you! I take it you are following a low carb healthy fats way of eating?”
Another commented: “You’re looking amazing, Johnny!”
Writing next to the picture, Johnny told his fans: “It's a far cry from a Thatto Heath fry up….ooh you've changed Vegas.
“Apologies fellow tweeters, busy of late and treating our chats like a bacon butty, sadly an all too rare a treat of late…”
Johnny previously discussed that he has been working hard to get fitter.
And although his healthy diet now consists of high protein meals, he still likes a pint of Guinness.
He said recently: “Is okay to feel just a teensy weensy bit pleased with yourself when a compliment over weight loss ends with ‘…you look fabulous!?'
“So glad I went for the healthy option now Guinness IS good for you!”
Johnny previously tried to lose weight over a decade ago and said he wanted to get fit for his son.
He said his weight was causing him health problems and on Loose Women admitted he wanted to live longer.
