JEREMY Vine viewers have ripped into an 'out of touch' debate on the cost of living crisis – raging the show is 'too sad to watch'.

The Channel 5 programme always discussing the pressing issues facing society, and at the forefront of everyone's minds is the hike in food and energy prices.


With small businesses struggling and families fearing they won't be able to heat their homes over winter or afford food, Jeremy and his panellists discussed what was going on and what could be done.

However, some watching at home felt like the tone of the debate was wrong, with one sharing a picture of a cartoon dog sitting in among a fire with the words 'This is fine' above him and tweeted: "#TsunamiOfPoverty #JeremyVine."

Another added: "Positive thinking will not heat a single household. #jeremyvine."

A third tweeted: "I can't watch this anymore. It's too sad. Something's got to be done about the #CostOfLivingCrisis #jeremyvine #jeremyvineon5."

Meanwhile, the show also delved into the ongoing problems between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and the rest of the Royal Family.

However, one viewer wasn't impressed, writing: "Worst cost of living crisis in living memory and this is what you want to discuss #JeremyVine show like Tory MPs – out of touch with reality."

Jeremy's latest show comes after it was revealed last week that the 57-year-old journalist had landed a new programme with Channel 5.

Jeremy has presented his self titled daily current affairs show since September 2018.

Jeremy isn't afraid to speak his mind and this has now lead to him landing a second show for the network.

A tweet shared on the official ITN Productions Twitter account today revealed: "Very excited to announce a new fast-turnaround live debate show for @channel5_tv, hosted by @theJeremyVine and focusing on the anger, anxiety and the massive issues currently engulfing Britain.

"Coming to your screens later this month!"

Jeremy Vine airs weekdays at 9.15am on Channel 5.
