Jacob Hay (Jack James Ryan) will have some explaining to do in Coronation Street next week, after he’s witnessed attacking Simon Barlow (Alex Bain).

The former drug dealer has been determined to turn over a new leaf, having got out of the dealing business.

He’s certainly made an effort to change his ways, and girlfriend Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) is proving to be a positive influence in his life.

But despite his efforts, he’s failed to get Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) and Tracy (Kate Ford) on board with him seeing Amy.

Amy, however, is determined to rectify this, and thus she brings Jacob along to dinner next Friday (March 18).

Tracy is less than pleased and thus makes tracks, that is, until Steve reminds her that Amy is 18 and therefore can see who she likes.

Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson), however, is not so understanding, after she spots Jacob with the McDonald / Barlow clan in the bistro.

And things take yet another turn, as previewed in the above video clip, taken from the episode in question of the ITV soap.

Amy asserts that Jacob has a soft side to Steve, who struggles to believe such a thing.

Unfortunately for Jacob, Steve’s doubts about his character are given legs to stand on moments later.

Jacob, you see, is seen punching Simon across the face!

The reason why, however, remains a mystery. Will Jacob’s latest actions cost him his relationship with Amy?

One to watch: Friday March 18 at 8pm on ITV.
