Is Mercedes McQueen leaving Hollyoaks?

Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe) has had a pretty tough year so far in Hollyoaks – and they’re not about to get any easier.

Because having already had to deal with problems in her marriage to Sylver (David Tag), she’s now facing a blackmailer after being involved in a joyriding incident with Liam (Jude Monk McGowan) which saw Grace Black (Tamara Wall) being knocked down.

And now serial killer Breda (Moya Brady) has got wind of the fact that things are not all good in Mercedes’ world – from her drug habits to her marital woes – sparking speculation that perhaps she could be her next victim.

So what will happen, and is Mercedes’ time on Hollyoaks set to be cut short?

Is Mercedes McQueen leaving Hollyoaks?

As it stands there’s been no suggestion that Jennifer Metcalfe is leaving Hollyoaks or that Mercedes is set to meet a grisly end at Breda’s hands.

The actress previously left the soap in 2014, but returned in 2018, having also taken time off following the birth of her son Daye.

Speaking to OK! in 2018 she said she was ‘excited’ to be making a comeback, adding: ‘Whenever I go back, I always come back with a swing in my step.’

Could Breda kill Mercedes?

She certainly seems to be sizing her up as a potential new victim in the coming episodes.

The story will see Mercedes incredibly nervous about Max’s arrival, with the youngster left uncomfortable as his birthday party gets underway, as Mercedes breaks down over the fact he still feels unloved her her.

She subsequently takes drugs in the bathroom and then causes a scene at the party – and when Sylver finds out he’s furious.

Breda walks in in the midst of his rage, with her interest piqued – and subsequently confronts Mercedes at The Dog – but could it prove to be a fatal meeting for her?

Hollyoaks airs weeknights on Channel 4 at 6.30pm, with new episodes on E4 weeknights at 7pm.
