I'm A Celebrity champion Harry Redknapp plans to splash £500,000 pay cheque on 'extra special Christmas' for his family

The Daily Star say the football legend, who was last night crowned king of the jungle, will spoil his loved ones with his earnings from the reality show.

Harry's three weeks in Australia is the longest he has spent not speaking with wife Sandra in 54 years.

And the 71-year-old has always had a packed schedule over Christmas due to the football season.

But a source close to the Redknapps told the paper: “As a football family, Christmas has always had to play second fiddle for Harry and Sandra.

“Family is important but football is their living. Now Harry is retired he is desperate to make up for lost time.

"His Jungle experience is bound to make for some good stories round the fire.”

Harry has previously said: “Christmas is the busiest time of the year for football. It meant that I was rarely up for a sociable or even happy Christmas."

Publishers are said to be lining up to land a book deal with Harry, who won the nation's hearts with his antics in the jungle.

After a tense few minutes, hosts Holly Willoughby, 37, and Declan Donnelly, 43, revealed Harry, 71, as this year's jungle king – much to the surprise of the man himself.

Still reeling from the shock, Harry was finally given the chance to see his wife, who gave him a huge hug and a kiss.

When asked how he coped without Sandra in the jungle he said: "It was very difficult, it was very difficult."

Harry got down to the final two with Emily Atack, 28, after John Barrowman, 51, was voted into third place.

Harry was the second highest paid star to ever appear on the programme with his fee of £500,000 after fellow series celeb Noel Edmonds, who was paid £600,000 for his appearance.

But Harry has been predicted to make millions off the back of the show.

This year's show has been a huge success as it brought in the highest ratings in five years, smashing the 12 million mark for the first time since 2013.
