The BBC newsreader, 57, shed the excess weight by taking up boxing, and he now thinks he has what it takes to appear on the ballroom series.
The telly star went down to just 13 stone thanks to intense training sessions with ex-pro boxer Clinton McKenzie.
He said: "I think I could move a bit more now and I'm lighter on my feet.
"Life is about challenges. So yes, why not, but as yet no one has asked me."
Huw – who raises five children with his TV producer wife Vicky Flind – says his weight loss has helped him gain a new fan base.
And he's delighted that he's finally being considered a sex symbol.
He said: "I found out that I am even quite popular with the LGBT fans which is astounding."
Huw previously told The Sun: "I feel better than I have for years and it’s great getting so many compliments.”
He recently sent fans wild when he stepped out from behind the spangly curtain on last Saturday's Strictly.
Viewers were united in astonishment and admiration, with one tweeting: "Is Huw Edwards turning into a bit of a babe or is it me?"
Another raved: "Huw Edwards: Surprise hotty" while another gasped: "WOOF! Who knew?!"
A third raved: "Huw Edwards showing how it is done. That's a 10 from me!"
Meanwhile, another simply wrote: "Looking FIIIIIINE."
